Success Stories: From Fresh Graduate to Business Analyst

When Doris completed her Accounting Degree in 2023, her goal was to secure a job as quickly as possible in Accounting – which she did, but very quickly she realized that she wasn’t satisfied with her Accounting job so she sought to transition to tech. After asking around she was referred to TCA and joined our Business Analysis program.

But Doris has a deep concern, her lack of experience in tech worried her so much as she did not know how to position herself as a Business Analyst, nor did she understand the industry tools used by BAs.

Nevertheless, she put in 110% and even started applying for jobs before the end of the program. In her words: "I attended all the classes, participated in all the project tasks, started applying for jobs and was getting calls, but was not doing as well as I expected in the interviews. At this point, my confidence significantly increased as I now had a solid and practical understanding of the BAs role and how they function within organizations – all thanks to TCA’s live project experience.”

To improve her interviewing skills, Doris went through our interview preparation masterclass and connected with her mentor and TCA Tech Recruiter and that was the turning point. She even started practicing interview questions while walking on the road. In her words: "I was so prepared that when I make a mistake in an interview I know right away. One time I noticed the hiring manager’s face change during a discussion then I knew that I had said something I shouldn’t have said and then I learnt from this experience."

Doris attended 5 interviews in total. After the first 3 interviews, she got angry (in a good way) and put her all into the upcoming interview preparation and then it happened! In this particular interview, she prepared very well and realized that she was so comfortable during the interview that she was even making jokes and the interviewers were laughing. Next thing she knows a spectacular offer was made!
