TCA Success Stories: From Driving Uber to Driving Projects as a PM

Today’s story is about Michael and his “Agbari mindset” (don’t worry this is fully explained below).

Michael worked as an Industrial Engineer, a job that, while respectable, left much to be desired in terms of fulfilment and financial reward. Deep down, Michael harboured a burning ambition - he dreamt of becoming a Project Manager. However, this was no ordinary dream; it required not just wishful thinking but hands-on knowledge and practical experience, the kind that was hard to come by.

Then, a twist of fate! Michael was referred by a friend, who had transformed his life from being a security guard to landing a lucrative job after taking a Business Analysis course with TCA. This friend's success story was the turning point for Michael. He thought, "If my friend could do it, why can't I?"

At this juncture, Michael's life took another turn. His wife arrived from Nigeria in 2022, igniting a renewed sense of urgency in him. He needed to make a change, not just for himself but for his family. The moment his wife set foot in Canada, Michael knew it was time to leave his comfort zone. He signed up for TCA’s Project Management program, quit his job as a Quality Engineer and started driving for Uber. This decision, though daunting, offered him the flexibility he needed to focus on a Project Management program and help his wife settle into their new life in Canada.

Within the first two days of the program, Michael had an epiphany. He was certain he'd found his path. The program offered him practical knowledge and value he couldn't find anywhere else. His enthusiasm was so infectious that he began referring others to the program almost immediately.

Michael's journey wasn't smooth sailing. Initially, his job applications seemed to vanish into a void. But, undeterred, he sought help from his mentor. Together, they revamped his resume, and soon, the job market responded with a flurry of calls. Michael credits his success to what he calls the “Agbari Mindset,” a philosophy of doing whatever it takes. He believed if others could land their dream jobs, so could he.
